We are 17 days away from hearing the familiar drums and trumpets of the Olympics theme song to accompany the broadcast of the Opening Ceremonies for the 2024 Paris Games.

Also drawing near are the possible final days of seeing LeBron James and Kevin Durant in USA basketball jerseys.

The men’s Team USA roster is stacked with stars — maybe its most talented edition to date, even considering the 1992 Dream Team and 2008 Redeem Team.

James first suited up for the Olympics team at the age of 19 in 2004 in Athens, where it won a disappointing bronze medal, before he took home gold in Beijing (2008) and London (2012). It’s been an eventful few weeks for James, who signed a Lakers contract extension after the team drafted his eldest son, Bronny James.

There is panic. There is over-the-top worrying. There is fear that an extremely poor month of baseball means the Yankees are a bad team.

After following Saturday’s rout of the Red Sox with a quick-work 3-0 loss in Sunday night’s rubber game, the Yankees have lost 15 of 20 games and are 10-18 dating back to June 6. They aren’t hitting (four hits on Sunday) or pitching (another two homers allowed to Rafael Devers) or fielding particularly well. A 50-22 record has become 55-37.

Suddenly, they are looking up at the Orioles, three games back in the AL East, which has Yankees fans collectively freaking out.

In the long run, though, this past month isn’t important, as long as it doesn’t continue.
