UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman has announced he is back in the hospital.
Coleman was airlifted to a hospital back in March after saving his parents from a nasty house fire. After saving his parents, he went back in to save his dog, who unfortunately passed away.
After being rescued by the fire department, the UFC veteran was battling for his life as he was being treated for smoke inhalation. He ended up surviving and attended UFC 300 where he awarded Max Holloway the BMF title after his KO win over Justin Gaethje.
It appeared Coleman had fully recovered from the incident, but the UFC Hall of Famer took to Instagram on Thursday to announce that he was back in the hospital as he deals with an infection.
“Back in the hospital need emergency surgery my hip is septically infected. I was so close to being 100% oh well it’s all God’s plans. Surgery will be on Monday because they can’t do it today because I’m on blood thinners.. life is good God always has a plan Sober cool thing ever carnivore diet nine ancestry tenants fear nothing fears a liar. Hammer house for life who is in,” Mark Coleman wrote on Instagram.
Mark Coleman says he will be in the hospital for the weekend until the surgery on Monday to treat the infection. In the video, Coleman told fans all would be good once the surgery takes place.
The hope for many MMA fans is that Coleman will have a speedy recovery after he has surgery for the infection in his hip.
Mark Coleman is 16-10 as a pro-MMA fighter and he had his last fight back in 2010 against Randy Couture which he lost by second-round submission in the first-ever Hall of Famer vs Hall of Famer bout in UFC history. Coleman is the inaugural UFC heavyweight champion. In his career, he has notable wins over Dan Severn, Don Frye, Shogun Rua, and Stephan Bonnar among others.

If Merab Dvalishvili really plans to abandon his wrestling and strike with reigning bantamweight titleholder Sean O’Malley, then I’ll probably take out a second mortgage on my house and bet every last dime on “Suga.”
No disrespect to “The Machine,” but the champion is a prolific finisher with double-digit knockout wins. That includes his stunning, second-round stoppage over ex-champ Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 last summer in Boston.

Sterling is Merab’s primary training partner.
“This is my dream fight and the perfect time to fight him,” Dvalishvili said on the “Believe You Me” podcast with hosts Anthony Smith and Michael Bisping. “What’s going to happen is now I’m going to show everybody my striking. Yeah, I have wrestling, but now I want to prove my striking. And I want to go punch his face because he thinks I’m going to wrestle him. No, I’m going to punch.”
“I don’t believe you,” Smith replied. “Merab, you are full of sh*t,” Bisping added.

“Stylistically, I have to beat him wrestling, good cardio, close the distance, and clinch,” Dvalishvili continued. “I have to respect his striking, but I believe in myself. I respect all my opponents, especially him. He is the champion, he has the confidence, he has the reach, he has experience, he has knockout power, he has good technique, a good coach, but I have to beat his coach too.”
Dvalishvili, 33, has three knockouts in 17 wins.
“The Machine” is expected to fight O’Malley at Noche UFC inside The Sphere in September.

Drew Dober admits a pursuit of the UFC lightweight knockout record has been a disservice to him in the past, so he’s taking some key lessons into Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 59 matchup with Jean Silva.
Dober (27-13 MMA, 13-9 UFC) enters his showdown with Silva (13-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in a tie with Dustin Poirier for most knockout wins in divisional history at nine. He’s had sole possession of the record before, but him and “The Diamond” have juggled it back-and-forth over the years.
Given Silva is a hard-hitting striker himself, there should be chances for Dober to finish the fight on the feet. His motivation to do that is self-serving in the purpose of victory, however, and not to take back the record for himself, because he’s gone down that road before with negative consequences.
“The thing is I received that record not even thinking about,” Dober told MMA Junkie on Tuesday. “I think the moment I started thinking about it, my performances kind of dipped. So no, I’ve stopped thinking about it. Knockout record is great – we’re also tied for the guillotine record (at zero).”

More than any record, Dober is simply grateful for the chance to compete at UFC on ESPN 59, which takes place at Ball Arena in Denver (ESPN, ESPN+). As a Colorado resident, Dober said he needed to be on this card regardless of the circumstances.
Dober, 35, proved that after he went through multiple opponent changes and wanted to stay on the lineup, even if it meant accepting a name like Silva, who is moving up from featherweight and making a quick turnaround from his knockout of Charles Jourdain at UFC 303 on June 29.
“I wanted to fight on July 13 in Denver, Colorado, against anybody,” Dober said. “I honestly didn’t care. The difficult part is I feel I’m all risk and no reward right now. I have the knockout record, and I’m not a ranked opponent right now. I can understand the hesitation (from other fighters), but Jean Silva, he’s a gangster and he accepted it.”

Ilia Topuria has become a superstar since he won the UFC featherweight title.
The same can be said for the bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley. However, O’Malley’s superstardom arguably came before he was crowned his division’s best fighter, a label he also claimed before Topuria.
A polarizing figure in the MMA space, “Sugar” knows how to get the masses talking, whether it’s positive or negative. O’Malley, 29, kicked off his title reign by rematching Marlon Vera at UFC 299 this past May, winning the fight in an impressive unanimous decision. In the build-up, he spoke often about hoping to have a champion vs. champion clash with Topuria afterward. Topuria wasn’t yet the champion when O’Malley first presented the concept. “El Matador” ultimately made good on his title promises when he knocked out Alexander Volkanovski one month before O’Malley’s Vera defense.
O’Malley has since kept the Topuria talk to a minimum. After seeing this past week’s official UFC pound-for-pound ranking update, which has the No. 5-ranked Topuria one spot ahead of him, O’Malley couldn’t help himself.
“How the f*ck is Ilia above me on the pound-for-pound?” O’Malley asked on his YouTube channel. “He’s five inches shorter and has less title defenses. Those are just facts. I wasn’t trying to be funny [on Twitter], I was stating facts and I got a lot of hate for it. They’re like, ‘He should be, he beat ‘Volk.’’ Buddy, I really could give a f*ck less where I’m at on the pound-for-pound [list].”
Although either champions’ next title defenses aren’t official, O’Malley and Topuria are expected to battle tough opposition in the forms of Merab Dvalishvili and Max Holloway. From O’Malley’s end, he still has no update on the possible bout’s status, though he still hopes it happens at Noche UFC in September.
Meanwhile, Topuria and Holloway remain at a standstill in their fight negotiations, having bantered recently on Twitter. Should the fight happen as fans hope, O’Malley believes the BMF champion Holloway will start his second featherweight title reign.
“Ilia’s gonna be the next Cody Garbrandt,” O’Malley said. “He won his nice little fight he had, his little Dominick Cruz performance — he’s about to get pieced up by Max Holloway and then go downhill from there. Not really. I feel like Ilia is one of the most skilled guys actually in the UFC, but f*ck Ilia.”

The San Francisco Giants have seen their share of stars walk away from the game, or reluctantly leave the team thinking they have some more gas left in the tank.It’s always difficult for professionals to know when it’s the right time to walk away, and that is especially true for athletes.However, for one of their past players, it seems like he knows exactly when it’s time for him to retire.Kevin Pillar spoke with Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY about 2024 likely being his last season of Major League Baseball. He talked about wanting to reach the 10-year mark of service time and how it almost didn’t happen for him when he was released by the Chicago White Sox two months before hitting that milestone.Fortunately, he was signed by the Los Angeles Angels and has performed well for them during his 59 games, slashing .281/.347/.490 with seven homers and 30 RBI at the time of writing. That also gave him the opportunity to reach 1,000 career hits, something he accomplished.”I watched some of my good friends and teammates, who were much better players than me, maybe go a year too long. I think it would be kind of cool to go out playing really well, and people being curious to why you don’t want to play anymore, and not that the game kicked you out,” he said.That didn’t seem like it was going to be the case for Pillar.In 2022, he only played four Major League games with the Los Angeles Dodgers after suffering a shoulder fracture. The following season, he appeared in 81 games for the Atlanta Braves but wasn’t blowing anyone away with his .228/.248/.416 slash line.Then, it looked like he hit his low point this year when he went 4-for-25 and was subsequently released by the worst team in baseball.However, the Angels have given him a chance to go out on his terms.”Not everyone really gets that opportunity in this game. I was very close to not getting that opportunity. I don’t know what the future looks like, even in this year, but if I can keep up what I’m doing and having a a very good offensive year, it might be a cool thing to leave people wanting more. It might be cool for people to ask, ‘Why wouldn’t you want to do it anymore?’ as opposed to, you know, fading away,” Pillar added.The Giants were the first team he played for outside of the Toronto Blue Jays who drafted him in the 32nd round of the 2011 MLB draft. He had six solid seasons with them before he was shipped to San Francisco after just five games into his 2019 campaign.With his new team, Pillar became a star.He played in 156 games with the Giants, slashing .264/.293/.442 with 21 homers, 61 extra-base hits, and 87 RBI. He received the Willie Mac Award that is given to the player who is the most inspirational as voted on by fellow players, coaches, trainers, and the fans, and even got an NL MVP vote.Unfortunately, his time with the franchise ended after one season when he wasn’t tendered a contract. He became a journeyman with seven different teams following his stint in San Francisco.As the 35-year-old reflects on his career, he thinks he’s done enough to hang up the cleats.”In my heart, I’m 98% sure,” he told Nightengale.If this is truly his last season, then he’s accomplished more than what most players drafted at his position have ever done.

He’s let me know, that’s when it’s Conor the boss. “But there’s times when he loves the pictures and we’re having a buzz. “There’s times where he’s Conor McGregor, head of McGregor Sports & Entertainment or Claymore Productions.’I’ve soaked it all in’“I don’t want people telling me all the time my pictures are great, they’re not always great, no one’s are. “I think it’s important to have that relationship.” Fogarty will now call on McGregor’s expertise as he prepares to make his fight return – this time in the boxing ring. He has signed to Misfits Boxing – home to celebrity-style crossover bouts – and faces their lightweight champion Deen the Great on August 31 in Dublin. Fogarty will be coached by McGregor’s first ever trainer, Irish boxing great Phil Sutcliffe. When travelling with McGregor, he will work under the same coaches and recovery team hired by the UFC legend. He said: “I’ve said it from the start, He is good. I’m not going to take anything away from him or discredit him. “He is a good fighter, a bit of a mouth, bit arrogant and cocky, but look, he is a good boxer. He’s got power in both hands, moves his head well, moves his feet well. “So I think it’s a big challenge and the hardest fight in the division being the champion.
